Here's a story I wrote yesterday about Leathernecks in the NFL... Seubert got the win over Williams last night in Dallas.

Cleveland Browns' linebacker David Bowens, who helped Western advance to the NCAA Division I semifinals in 1998, made news on Sunday when he intercepted two passes and returned them for a touchdowns (30 and 64 yards) during the 30-17 win over defending Super Bowl champions New Orleans Saints.

A First Team All-American in 1998, Bowens helped the Browns defeat the defending Super Bowl champion for the third consecutive year. In his 12th year in the NFL, Bowens recorded his first two defensive touchdowns. He blocked a punt and returned it for a TD in 2007.

Two other All-American performers for the Leathernecks will meet on Monday Night Football. New York Giants offensive lineman Rich Seubert will line up across the line from Dallas Cowboys linebacker Jason Williams.

We're back

After a couple of months away from the blog we are back. Actually it was Brad who wrote last, hard to remember the last time I actually wrote something that was not related to a game story, preview story or game notes.

How time flies, yes a commonly used phrase but very true in our athletic media services department. It's hard to believe that we are entering week eight of the football season, basketball practice has started and the first game is less than a month away.

We will make a better effort to get the blogs out in a timely fashion, and make the reading worth your while.

Football has obviously taken up a lot of the talk around town, and with the continued turnaround rightfully so. There's a good column on www.ncaasports.com under the football home page on Western. Take time out to read it.

Also some other notes heading into the weekend... you probably didn't know Lito Senatus is 3rd nationally in touchdown receptions. He has accounted for six of his eight TDs over the past three weeks... This is Missouri State's Homecoming game. We already defeated North Dakota State for its Homecoming, time to make it two consecutive (three if you include our Homecoming win).

It should be a pretty quiet weekend for athletics, everyone is on the road. That's where I'll be again shortly.

Until next time... Go Leathernecks
