Busy times when the fall season overlaps with basketball... enough said.
Random thoughts for Thursday:
- Here is a link for a highlight video of Matt Barr, on the Watch List for the Walter Payton Award. Sean Ingrassia in broadcasting did a great job putting this together.
- Men's Basketball begins the four game Cancun Challenge tonight at #14 Missouri. The final two games are in Cancun. Team received a nice guarantee to be able to make the entire trip. Check back to GoLeathernecks.com for pictures and video.
- Funny golf commercial I linked to the blog the other day.
- Many signees are in the book, and now written about on the website. Check out the newest Leathernecks.
- Baseball will be announcing its 2011 schedule soon. Open the year at Samford and Georgia State, two places I'm very familiar with from past years. Samford will be a nice trip, for fans making the trip stay away from a certain restaurant. Bad personal experience with food poisoning my last trip to Birmingham (actually had to miss broadcasting game 3 of the 2009 Samford series when I worked at Georgia Southern).
- Don't forget to follow us on Twitter (WIUAthletics and WIUSID). Baseball just recently joined too. Many of the sports coaches are on.
- Good luck to women's basketball as they continue the trek through the Big 12... started with Iowa State, now Oklahoma and Kansas State.
- Biggest game of the year for football on Saturday at home against Northern Iowa. One of the football assts asked me if there was any conflict for me playing UNI since I graduated from there. My response... absolutely none. Go Leathernecks, let's beat the Panthers. Personally I think we win, we are in the playoffs. Will find out Sunday morning, but it all must start with a win Saturday.
- $1 general admission tickets for Saturday's football game, and most items in concessions stand just $1. Let's fill Hanson Field.
Until next time... Go Leathernecks
